The Music of the Forest
Walking through the boulevards
Lined along with thick thorns
I glance sparsely from side to side
In agitated fore-seeing peril.
The birds chirped and tweeted
Upon my silence one flew above my head
Its talons giving me a birth mark
Rather, a sign of approval
Into the dearth of its home.
I had not recovered from my staggering
When an eerie cry begged my attention
Butterflies fluttering towards the north
Coming from the south a strange winged animal
Wings as powerful as an eagle's
Puffed out cardiac muscles
Disappearing suddenly into the canopies.
Retreat wasn't an option,
Progression was unto death,
Side tracks were filled with green thickness
Suddenly, I remembered the 23rd verse of selah
I whispered at first
believing my words
I rumbled against the voice of the forest
I believed in him in me
One step at a time,
Two, three, four Progression unstopped
Regression unknown...
Vision insight,
Dream introspect,
Mission in mind,
Perspiration and trust.
I whispered once more
I CAN DO IT!
