                                             EVANGELISM OR DISENVANGELISM?

At this point, I think I need someone needs to interfere in this matter before I reach a boiling point. My curiosity and desire to learn has made someone state without any iota of equivocation that I'm reasoning with the devil. I really don't know why people jump to conclusions. I only wanted to discuss with this brother and learn one or two things from him. you know, he says something and I say the direct opposite hoping to receive proof and bible passages to convince me that I'm wrong but, this brother concluded that I'm reasoning with the devil. In his words: "The devil would always bring alternatives...you've allowed the devil to brainwash you with useless findings. Haa!! I pity you once again...." Seriously, if this is how people evangelize, it's really discouraging and with this I'm not surprised that many people have refused to change their ways and accept the gospel which they claim is "bullshit". If different people have different interpretations of a book and you can't discuss with them and try to understand the book then there is a problem somewhere.
our discussion went thus:

ICan a bible app on a smartphone or any on other platform replace the hard copy version which has been used for years?

HE:  It can never, will you raise your phone up when your pastor instructs you to raise your sword? Or will you cast and bind devil with his instrument?? He initiated all these things and you secretly or openly use it for the propagation of the Gospel, do you think it can work against him??

IThanks! One more question. Can sheets of paper, not binded, be used instead of a bible.

HE Not sheets of paper but sheets of Bible.. It is not ordinary.. Many people smuggle sheets of Bible into islamic countries just because they want to have access to the word of God..
And yes, it can be used

I: If I'm getting you right, sheets of bible can be used but, certainly not sheets of paper.
May I bring to your notice that the word, Bible originates from the word: from 'Koine Greek τὰ βιβλία, tà biblía' also known in latin as biblia. This word literally means paper or scroll. The jews later called their sacred books, papyrus books. All referring to 'paper'. The events of the bible were passed down thru d mouth for years and decades b4 dey were finally written in scripts and later documented into a book called the 'Holy Bible' which itself has 66 books. If I'm not mistaken, the bible always refer to the word of God. I dnt think it ever made mention of the word 'bible'. Furthermore, it is said that the 'word of God' is like a two-edged sword not the 'bible'. You need the word of God to cast out demons and spirit not the bible per say. What gives a bible its sacredness is not the name holy bible or the ordinary papers but the word printed and written on it. So if the same word is placed on a phone or ipad, why is it less powerful because it is not on paper. Is it not the same word? (Once again, I'm not asserting or giving an excuse to the truth as my brethren has said, I'm only trying to understand and gain knowledge. I'm subject to correction).

HEDevil will always bring alternatives.. So through all your findings now, you've concluded that the applications of Bible on your phone is as effective as the one written in paper?? Bravo, I pity you so much.. You've allowed devil to brainwash you with some useless findings, Ha!! I pity you once again, may God open your inner eyes to see what you need to see... Amen...

It seems I was highly misunderstood because I wasn't taking sides, only trying to understand his position better.

I hereby use this medium to call on fellow christians to lend their voice to this controversy. Effectively use the comment box below and let us learn from each other.

  1. O well. The Word of God never calls itself the "Bible". Besides, it won't matter at the end of the day if your "bible" is hard copy, soft copy, medium copy or whatever, if this Word doesn't dwell in you, it is of no effect. It is a wrong notion to say that the word of God on i-pads and what-have-you does not qualify as the Word. That's ignorance at work.
