Elegy To A Crippling Nation

ELEGY TO A CRIPPLING NATION

Although it deserves no dirge yet,
I foresee its abysmal end
Having conferences with clairvoyant argurers
I have no doubt
Of its imminent downfall..

Walking through its stinking streets
Ornated with filthy garments
I nod my head in pity's pithy
Remembering in retrospect
The undone years of boom.

Sneers and frowns are my people's lot
Amidst rancorous loot
From the payers' sweat
Dripping into the leaders pot.

Obscure principles and unfounded policies
From all corners of government
Breath-taking and suffocating decisions
To further cripple the economy.

In eager anticipation,
We lie await for karma
To end our further ail
Plied through all fruitful sectors
To all potential citizens.

Its story of befallen calamity
Inspiring its critical state
moves my pen to mourn
Before its final breath.
Hence I dedicate this elegy
To the obituary of sucking tapeworms.
